Smoke Visible on Buzzard Complex Sunday Afternoon
Higher temperatures and lower humidities are causing interior smokes on the Buzzard Complex this afternoon, primarily on the south side of the fire and especially visible from Highway 78, Mile Post 56.
Firefighters are aware of the increased activity and are monitoring and addressing smokes as they occur.
Containment lines continue to hold.

Camp tours will be conducted to coincide with Crane school registration. Tours will be on Tuesday and Wednesday July 23 – July 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Tour the
fire Incident Command Post at Crane Union High School to find out:
- Where the firefighters eat and sleep
- How the firefighters get their work assignments
- Who makes the fire maps
- Who tracks the fire personnel’s time so they can get paid correctly
You will also get to meet the Incident Commander of the Type

Precaution Level moves to level 3 Effective Wednesday, July 23, Industrial
Fire Precaution Level 3 (IFPL), Partial Shutdown, will be implemented on lands
administered by the Bureau of Land Management Burns District, and the Emigrant
Creek Ranger District of the Malheur National Forest.
Under IFPL 3, personal and commercial woodcutters are prohibited from operating power saws.
Personal and commercial woodcutters are reminded of their responsibility to stay informed of current IFPLs and all restrictions that apply to activities conducted on public lands.
Fire danger is VERY HIGH and a regulated fire restriction is in effect for all public lands within the Burns Interagency Fire Zone. Campfires are permitted only within designated campgrounds, and any driving or parking in areas not clear of all flammable materials – berm to berm – is prohibited. Ignition of fireworks on all public land is always prohibited.
Visitors should use extreme caution when visiting public lands this time of year. For a map of the restricted use area, please visit the Burns District BLM office at 28910 Hwy 20 West in Hines. For current wildfire information, go online to inciweb.nwcg.gov

Interagency Incident Management Team 4 (Brian J. Watts) resumes management of
the entire fire perimeter in both zones.
Night shift operations have been discontinued on the east zone and the spike camp set at Stray Dog Reservoir has closed.
The firefighters temporarily camped at Crowley returned to the Incident Command Post at Juntura Monday evening.
East zone crews continued to mop-up the 50-100 acre spot fire that occurred after strong winds pushed embers across containment lines yesterday afternoon. On the remainder of the fire crews continued to mop-up and patrol the fire perimeter.
Fire Weather - It rained over a majority of the fire on Monday, especially in the southeast corner. Some areas received up to 2” of precipitation.
Scattered thunderstorms will bring potential for small areas of intense rain and gusty outflow wind.
